All About The 26/11 Attack And Ajmal Kasab's Trial
On November 26, 2008, 10 Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists reached Mumbai by sea from Karachi, Pakistan. The attackers targeted several locations across the city, including the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) railway station.
Kasab and another attacker opened fire at CST, killing several civilians. The attacks continued for nearly three days at multiple locations, including the Taj Mahal Palace, Oberoi Trident and Nariman House.
The other nine attackers were killed by Indian security forces. Kasab was captured alive by Mumbai Police on the night of November 26.
Ujjwal Nikam served as the Special Public Prosecutor in the case. The prosecution presented several pieces of evidence during the trial, including CCTV footage, ballistic evidence and DNA evidence.
Kasab was eventually sentenced to death. He was hanged at Yerwada Central Prison in Pune on November 21, 2012.
