Rashmika Mandanna recently addressed the backlash she faced over her comments on periods. The actress is currently enjoying the success of her latest releases Thamma and The Girlfriend. In a recent talk show Rashmika spoke about men should also get periods sparking major controversy online. Netizens reacted strongly to her remarks. Clearing the air, the Pushpa actress explained that her remarks were meant to highlight the physical and emotional pain women experience, not to undermine men’s struggles.

During a talk show appearance on Jayammu Nischayammu Raa with Jagapathi Babu, she stated, "Yes. I want them to get periods at least once, to know the pain and trauma. Due to hormonal imbalance, we feel emotions we don't understand. And you can't show that pressure on men because, no matter how much you explain, they don't understand the feeling. So, if men get periods just once, let them understand what period pain is like.” The actress clarified that her comments were intended to emphasize the emotional and physical suffering experienced by women, rather than to minimize the challenges faced by men.

The Girlfriend actress opened up about her own painful experiences, saying, "I get such horrible period pain that I have even fainted once because of it. I've done numerous tests and consulted doctors, but nobody knows why it happens. Every month, I wonder, 'God, why are you torturing me so much?' I feel like anyone can only understand it when they experience it. Which is why I think men should get periods at least once." Her candid explanation emphasises the intensity of menstrual pain and the need for empathy, reinforcing that her intention was to raise awareness, not spark controversy.

Social Media Reactions

Meanwhile, the comment quickly went viral, with many netizens misinterpreting her words. Some criticised Rashmika, writing things like, "Whatever you wanna say about women empowerment… please keep it to yourself. Especially for movie promotion times." Others expressed support, saying, "It’s truly heartbreaking to see how the media twisted @iamRashmika’s words and misrepresented her intentions. We simply can’t rush to judge or blame someone without knowing the full truth. It’s deeply sad and unfair #RashmikaMandanna." The actress expressed her frustration over this misunderstanding, tweeting, "And this no one will talk about.. The fear of going to shows and interviews is this for me.. I mean something and it’s taken in something else entirely.."

Apart from this controversy, Rashmika also advocates for healthier work-life balance. She said, "Do what is comfortable for you. Get those 8 hours or 9 or 10 hours also, because trust me, that’s going to save you in your later years… I’ve done it both, and I’m telling you, this isn’t worth it." Amidst her busy schedule with recent releases like Thamma and The Girlfriend, and reports of her engagement to Vijay Devarakonda, Rashmika continues to encourage open dialogue while highlighting important issues like women’s health and well-being. Her statements, though controversial to some, underline her commitment to honesty and advocacy in both her professional and personal life.
