Raja Shivaji Movie Release Date: Raja Shivaji is set to hit cinemas on May 1, 2026. The movie will be releases in both Hindi and Marathi. While most multilingual films maintain an identical runtime across different languages, Riteish Deshmukh’s directorial venture will feature two distinct edits. Reportedly, the Hindi version of the film has been made shorter than the original Marathi cut to suit different audience preferences.

According to a report in Bollywood Hungama, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has granted the film a UA 16+ certificate. The Marathi version is a sprawling epic with a runtime of three hours, 15 minutes, and five seconds. In contrast, the Hindi version is exactly eight minutes shorter, clocking in at three hours, seven minutes, and five seconds.

Why Riteish Deshmukh’s Raja Shivaji Hindi Version Is Shorter Than The Marathi Original?

Interestingly, the shorter duration of the Hindi edit is not the result of any forced cuts or censorship. Instead, it is a deliberate creative choice made by Riteish Deshmukh himself.

The report stated, “It is unusual for different language versions of the same film to have varying durations. Usually, two versions of a film have the exact same duration. However, Riteish has tried a novel experiment and kept the narrative crisp for the Hindi audience. Meanwhile, for the Marathi audience, which would probably be more attracted to the film due to the local flavour, the actor-director has gone for a longer version.”

Raja Shivaji Release Details, Cast And Other Details

Raj Shivaji is set to hit theatres on May 1 coinciding with Maharashtra Day. Produced by Jyoti Deshpande and Genelia Deshmukh under the Mumbai Film Company banner, the movie features a massive ensemble cast.

Alongside Riteish Deshmukh in the lead role, the film stars Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, Genelia Deshmukh, Vidya Balan, Bhagyashree and Mahesh Manjrekar. There are also strong rumours of a special cameo appearance by Salman Khan, adding to the massive buzz surrounding the project.
