Saif Ali Khan has acknowledged in several interviews that he wasn't a born actor when he initially started working in the movie business after graduating from an English boarding school. He was rejected a number of times, which forced him to improve. In fact, Saif once opened up how he was left out of Rahul Rawail's 1992 film Bekhudi, which was meant to be his acting debut. For the unversed, Kamal Sadanah eventually took Saif's place in Rahul Rawail's film, which also featured Kajol in the major role.

Saif Ali Khan ws kicked out of his first movie because the director wanted him to leave his girlfriend, according to an old video that is currently making the rounds on Reddit.  said, "Struggle ka matlab kya hota hai? Auto rickshaw mein baitho aur 10 chakkar kaato. Kisi ke office mein 3 ghante ke liye baitho. Ise struggle kehte hain. Meri struggle bhi thi lekin alag thi. Mujhe apni pehle film se nikaal diya gaya kyuki mere director saab ne bola ki you leave your girlfriend or you do the film. It was a moral choice."

Saif Ali Khan reportedly seemed uninterested in working on the project, which led the filmmaker to see him as unprofessional. He later acknowledged that rumours that he had shown up on set drunk had a significant impact on him and his career.

Saif Ali Khan revealed in a subsequent interview with Lehren that no one wanted to work with him as a result of these charges. Talking about how he has not done things like others, Saif shared, "I haven’t studied much after school, maybe I will do that later. I think it is important. When I pay less attention to details that other people look at, like ‘what does your father do?’ People say that I am too open, even to strangers."

However, that was Saif Ali Khan's past, the actor has come a long way. He is now one of Bollywood's most sought-after names. The Pataudi man has demonstrated his mettle by starring in varied roles throughout his career and taking risks that other prominent actors are unwilling to attempt.
