Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal recently celebrated their one-year wedding anniversary on June 23, 2025. Last year, the Bollywood couple got married under the Special Marriage Act at home in the presence of close family and friends. Before taking the vows, the couple dated for 8 years and kept their relationship under wraps. Sonakshi and Zaheer have been vocal about their bond and keep sharing some insights into their married life. But only very few people know how their love story actually began. It turns out that actor Salman Khan had a big role in making the couple fall in love.

Sonakshi Sinha, during an interview with Pinkvilla, revealed that she met Zaheer Iqbal at a party hosted by Salman Khan. Though the Dabangg actor didn’t officially play the role of a matchmaker, Sonakshi called him more of a ‘sutradhar’ and said, “He was obviously very happy (about our wedding). He is very fond of both of us. It was because of him that we met, so credit where it’s due.” One week after meeting Zaheer, Sonakshi expressed her feelings to him, which then started a beautiful journey for the couple.

Remembering her proposal during a trip to Finland, the actress shared, “It was beautiful, under the Northern Lights and all. It was surreal! It was like a picture-perfect moment, of which I don't have any pictures. I'm telling you it's so clear in my head, it was beautiful. I had no idea. Like I literally had no idea. I just thought we were going for our annual holiday and I had no idea. He had taken permission from my parents before we went and he popped the question over there.”

On the cinematic front, Sonakshi is all ready to come up with her latest movie, Nikita Roy, on June 27, 2025, directed by her brother Kush S Sinha. The movie also stars Arjun Rampal, Paresh Rawal and Suhail Nayyar.
