Thugs Of Hindostan: Aamir Khan is enjoying the success of Sitaare Zameen Par, his most recent release. The heartfelt sports drama has been doing well at the box office. However, he recently talked about the casting difficulties that were encountered while his 2018 movie, Thugs of Hindostan, was being made. Aamir Khan revealed that top actresses rejected the movie, and then the makers finally roped in Fatima Sana Sheikh.
Aamir Khan recently discussed the casting difficulties encountered while filming Thugs of Hindostan. The superstar also revealed in an open interview with The Lallantop that the producers did not want him to play opposite Fatima Sana Sheikh. "When we were casting, no heroines agreed to the film. Deepika said no, Alia was a no, and Shraddha also said no." Aamir added, "Ultimately, Victor (Vijay Krishna Acharya) went with Fatima. However, Aditya Chopra and Victor conveyed that her test was good, but made it clear she won’t be made my pair because I played her father in Dangal, the audience might not accept, " he shared.

Aamir Khan went on to say that Aditya Chopra didn't think it was appropriate to conflate work and personal life, noting that he wasn't Fatima's biological father or boyfriend. He questioned the propensity to undervalue the audience's capacity to discriminate between actual and fictional life, highlighting their roles as actors.
He added, "While I don’t believe in such aspects because neither am I her father in real life, nor her boyfriend. We’re just making a film. Aren’t we understimating our audience like they won’t understand we are actors?"
Aamir Khan also opened up about the reasons behind Thugs of Hindostan's failure. The actor described the evolution of the original screenplay. Aditya Chopra was happy with the initial print, but the Khan wasn't, and they disputed for six to eight months. The actor added that Zafira Baig was first introduced as the subject of a revenge scenario, but that the character eventually vanished from the story. Azaad, played by Amitabh Bachchan, was scheduled to die at the interval in the original screenplay, but it was altered before filming started.
