British Prime Minister Keir Starmer visited the Yash Raj Films (YRF) in Mumbai, where he was greeted with the hit track, Tujhe Dekha To Ye Jana Sanam from the iconic movie Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ). The diplomat was mesmerised by the soulful song and it was quite visible from his expressions. The romantic song played as part of celebrations marking 30 years of the movie’s release. The production house shared the update on its social media handles.
YRF took to his Instagram and wrote, “Incredibly honoured to have had the opportunity to host the UK Prime Minister @keirstarmer at Yash Raj Films in Mumbai yesterday!”
It added, “The UK & YRF’s relationship go back a long way and we were thrilled to make the PM listen to the iconic Tujhe Dekha Toh Yeh Jaana Sanam from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ) as the Bollywood blockbuster celebrates its 30th anniversary. Our ties with the UK deepen with a three movie production pact starting 2026. YRF is currently producing the stage adaptation of DDLJ, the English musical Come Fall In Love, to entertain audiences with this beautiful cross-cultural, East meets West love story!”

Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge was released on October 20, 1995. The film featured Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in the lead roles. It also starred Amrish Puri, Anupam Kher, Farida Jalal and Parmeet Sethi in key roles. Aditya Chopra’s directorial created a craze among youngsters about the film and the idea of romance at that time. Not only that, DDLJ scripted history. The songs and story everything touched the hearts of the audience. Some of the popular tracks which are still remembered are tujhe dekha to, ho gaya hai tujhko to pyar sajna, zara sa jhoom loon main, mere khwabon mein, mehndi laga ke rakhna and ghar aaja pardesi to name a few. The film 30 years ago earned over Rs 100 crore, as per reports.
