It's now confirmed that Alia Bhatt is set to star in a standalone film within the YRF Spy Universe. Speculations about Alia's debut in the production house's spy universe have been circulating for a while. Seems like she and Sharvari Wagh are set to collaborate on the project and exciting details about the same have recently surfaced. The announcement was made by Yash Raj Films' CEO Akshaye Widhani during the FICCI Frames events.
Alia Bhatt Joins YRF Spy Universe
YRF CEO Akshaye Widhani revealed about a new project within the YRF Spy Universe, Alia Bhatt is slated to headline it, with filming scheduled to begin later this year. He conveyed the studio's keenness for the spy universe IP and their anticipation for its future endeavours. Widhani said, "I’ll share the worst-kept secret in the industry, which is, Alia Bhatt is headlining a Spy Universe film, and the schedule starts later this year. But talking about this spy universe, we are just so thrilled and excited about having this IP in the studio."
Expressing great pride in the (IP), he hinted at multiple forthcoming projects within the spy universe. Although not divulging all specifics presently, he assured that further details would be disclosed when the timing is apt. "As one of the most prized IPs, we take a lot of pride in it. So there’s a lot of stuff that’s going to come in the spy universe. We’re going to see more and more films getting made under it. But, of course, not going to share everything here. We will talk about it at a more opportune time. For now, I can say that Alia Bhatt is headlining a spy universe film," he added.
Reportedly, in an action-packed yet-to-be-titled entertainer, Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh will co-star as super-agents, sharing screen space. The filming of this action-packed movie is set to begin later this year.
The YRF Spy Universe was inaugurated with Salman Khan's 'Ek Tha Tiger' (2012), followed by its sequel 'Tiger Zinda Hai' (2017), and 'War' (2019) featuring Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff. This universe expanded with 'Pathaan,' starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham.
