About Oppenheimer:

J. Robert Oppenheimer, universally recognised as the "father of the atomic bomb," played a pivotal role in leading the 'Manhattan Project', the initiative responsible for creating the world's first atomic bomb. Under his supervision, the development of this groundbreaking weapon took place. The deployment of this atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki played a decisive role in bringing an end to World War II.

Born on April 22, 1904, in New York City to German Jewish immigrants, Oppenheimer demonstrated remarkable intellectual capabilities from a young age. Following his graduation from Harvard University with a major in chemistry, he pursued further studies at Cavendish Laboratory in Cambridge, England, under the guidance of JJ Thomson, the Nobel laureate renowned for discovering the electron. However, during his research period, Oppenheimer shifted his focus to theoretical physics, which led him to study under Max Born in Germany.

Oppenheimer was responsible for supervising the research and development endeavours aimed at producing ample amounts of enriched uranium and plutonium. His team also worked on devising methods for isotope separation and creating a sustainable chain reaction, all of which were vital steps towards harnessing the immense power of nuclear fission.

His efforts reached their culmination in July 1945, with the successful detonation of the first atomic bomb, known as "Trinity," in the New Mexico desert.
