Kaantha OTT Release Date Out: Dulquer Salmaan’s much-talked-about Tamil period drama Kaantha is now heading for its digital premiere after completing its theatrical run. The film, which released in cinemas on November 14, 2025, has received praise for its performances, visuals, and unique storytelling style. With growing interest from fans, the makers have finally confirmed when audiences can stream the film online. The Tamil movie is jointly produced by Dulquer Salmaan and Rana Daggubati.
Netflix has acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights for Kaantha. The Tamil film will be available for streaming on Friday, December 12, allowing a wider audience to experience its rich period setting and compelling characters. The movie will be released in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi.

What Is Kaantha Movie About?
Kaantha, directed by Selvamani Selvaraj, is set in the 1950s Madras Presidency and revolves around the making of Tamil cinema’s first-ever horror film. Dulquer Salmaan plays T.K. Mahadevan, a rising actor who is cast in an ambitious new project led by respected filmmaker Ayya, played by Samuthirakani. As the film within the film begins production, tensions slowly rise. Mahadevan starts questioning Ayya’s creative decisions, leading to a clash. Matters take a darker turn when the lead actress of the film dies under mysterious circumstances. What begins as a period drama soon shifts into a tense murder mystery, pulling the characters into an unexpected journey.
Kaantha Cast And Crew
Tamil movie Kaantha features a strong ensemble cast, including Dulquer Salmaan as T.K. Mahadevan, Samuthirakani as director Ayya, Bhagyashri Borse, making her Tamil debut, Rana Daggubati in a pivotal role, Gayathrie Shankar, Nizhalgal Ravi, Bagavathi Perumal, and Ravindra Vijay in supporting roles. The editing is done by Llewellyn Anthony Gonsalvez. The soundtrack has been composed by Jhanu Chanthar, with background score by Jakes Bejoy.

Following its theatrical release, Kaantha drew strong attention on social media for its performances and technical quality. There were earlier rumours that Kaantha was inspired by the life of Tamil cinema legend M.K. Thyagaraja Bhagavathar, but the makers clarified that the story is entirely fictional.
