About Diljit Dosanjh's Panjab 95?
The story of Jaswant Singh Khalra, a human rights advocate who put forth endless effort during Punjab's trying militancy era, is the basis for Punjab 95. Khalra discovered evidence of thousands of covert mass cremations of unidentified dead between 1984 and 1994. Human rights violations were brought to light by his discoveries, but his bravery cost him dearly. He vanished inexplicably in 1995. Four police officers were found guilty of his kidnapping and murder years later, and in 2007 they were given life sentences.
