Sharvari Wagh, who made her mark in Bollywood with Bunty Aur Babli 2, originally set out on a different path. Before making her acting debut, Sharvari was already familiar with the film industry, having assisted well-known directors like Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Luv Ranjan. Reflecting on her journey, she shares how she became an Assistant Director (AD) on Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani, revealing the twists and turns her early career took.

In a chat with News18, Sharvari recounts how she auditioned for a film under Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s production house. “I was supposed to do a film with Sanjay sir's production house. I had auditioned and was shortlisted," she recalls. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, the project was paused. "We did a couple of workshops, but there was a bit of a pause due to technical reasons. They had to rework the script."

With the project on hold, Sharvari sought out other opportunities within the production. She requested to assist with Bajirao Mastani, which was in production at the time. "I asked if I could assist, and they were happy to give me the job as an intern," she shared with a smile. Working alongside Ranveer Singh, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Deepika Padukone, Sharvari got a front-row seat to witness the making of a cinematic masterpiece.

Sharvari has often spoken about her admiration for Bhansali and her desire to be directed by him. Despite not having spoken to the filmmaker recently, she remains hopeful. "I've never told him that I want to be his heroine. I've expressed it everywhere but not to him. One day, I hope my dream comes true," she laughs.

In addition to Bhansali, another figure Sharvari holds in high regard is Aditya Chopra, whom she considers a mentor. “Whenever I’m in doubt, I always reach out to him. But he encourages people to make their own decisions. He’s very appreciative of everyone’s hard work,” she says. Sharvari shares that Chopra was thrilled with her performance in Maharaj, a project he produced. “It’s validating to meet his expectations, and that applies to every film,” she notes.
