As part of the pre-monsoon action plan, the state irrigation department initiated repair work on the Shedhi Canal gates, resulting in their closure starting June 3, 2025. This halted the flow of raw water, leading to a decline in water levels at the Raska Water Treatment Plant and disrupting the drinking water supply in eastern Ahmedabad.

Due to the reduced inflow, the Raska Water Treatment Plant operated with only one pump instead of the usual two. While water was supplied on Wednesday morning based on the limited availability, pumping was entirely stopped at 12:15 pm. To mitigate the shortfall, additional water was sourced from the Kotarpur Water Treatment Plant.
