Annapurna Bhandar Scheme Update: Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari is expected to implement the Annapurna Bhandar scheme for women in the state starting next month. Preparations are also underway to provide free travel for women on state-run buses.

Chief Secretary Manoj Agarwal, upon assuming charge, held a high-level meeting on the Annapurna Yojana at the state secretariat, Nabanna, on Tuesday, in which secretaries and senior officials of almost all the departments of the state government were present.

The meeting discussed in detail the implementation of the scheme, verification of beneficiaries, and administrative preparations. According to Nabanna sources cited by jagran.com, officials were given a clear message that any negligence in implementing the Annapurna Bhandar scheme would not be tolerated. As per election promises, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government will provide women with Rs 3,000 per month directly into their bank accounts under the Annapurna Bhandar scheme.

The state government wants to ensure that only eligible women receive the benefits of the scheme and that the process remains completely transparent. According to official sources, women who were already receiving benefits under the previous Mamata Banerjee government's Lakshmi Bhandar scheme will be verified. Beneficiaries' documents, bank accounts, and identity information will be verified at the administrative level, jagran.com reported.

Women Deleted From Voter List During SIR To Not Get Annapurna Bhandar Scheme Benefits

If a woman's name is deleted from the voter list or confirmed dead during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, she will not receive the Annapurna Yojana benefits. Government sources said that beneficiaries already enrolled in the Lakshmi Bhandaar Yojana will not need to reapply for the Annapurna Yojana. This means that those whose data is already available in government records can be included in the scheme directly through the verification process.

Bengal Govt To Release Guidelines Soon

Women who are not receiving benefits under the Lakshmi Bhandaar Scheme will be able to apply anew. The application process will begin soon. The state government will soon issue detailed guidelines regarding the application process, eligibility, and benefit distribution through a notification.

No Irregularities Will Be Tolerated: Chief Secretary

In the meeting it was also also emphasised that there should be no irregularities or fraud in the preparation of the beneficiary list. The Chief Secretary directed the district administration and related departments to maintain strict oversight. Officials were asked to ensure accurate information about the scheme is disseminated to the public to avoid any confusion.

This meeting, held in Nabanna, is being seen as a signal of the new government's administrative priorities. During the meeting, the Chief Secretary reviewed various schemes and administrative activities. The Chief Secretary's stance clearly indicates that the new government is committed to ensuring speed, transparency, and accountability in the implementation of schemes.
