A 7th class student was allegedly assaulted by three men in Assam’s Tinsukia district on Monday while she was returning home from school, an incident that has triggered widespread outrage and calls for swift action.
According to an NDTV report, the girl was abducted around 3:00 pm by the three accused, who took her to a nearby tea garden. She was later found unconscious in the same area.

"The victim was returning from her school around 3:00 pm. Three youths riding a motorcycle kidnapped the girl, took her to a tea garden area, and allegedly raped her. We found the girl in the tea garden, and her condition was very bad. We took her to Bordubi police station, and she was then transferred to a hospital for treatment," said a relative of the victim.
Villagers and relatives of the victim gathered at the Bordubi police station, demanding justice for the survivor.
Assam Police sources have confirmed the alleged rape, and the victim’s family has lodged an FIR at the Bordubi police station. The investigation is currently underway, though no arrests have been made so far.
"Around 5 p.m., an e-rickshaw driver informed the family that he had found her in a semi-conscious condition in the vicinity of a tea garden. They rushed to the spot and found her with visible marks of injuries and clothes torn," the official said.
In a separate incident, a 45-year-old watchman has been arrested on Nove 2 for allegedly raping a 51-year-old sanitation worker employed with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) in the early hours of Friday at Erragadda, Hyderabad. The incident occurred on a foot overbridge near ESI Hospital when the woman was on her way to work around 4 am.
Police said the accused, who was reportedly intoxicated, stopped the woman, threatened her, and sexually assaulted her before fleeing. The survivor immediately informed her family and sought help from a nearby police check post, leading to the involvement of Borabanda Police.
CCTV footage from the area helped trace the accused, identified as a watchman at an apartment in Model Colony, Sanathnagar. He was arrested later that day and sent to judicial remand after being produced before a magistrate. Police have registered a case under Section 64 (rape) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The survivor has undergone a medical examination and received counselling at the Bharosa Centre. Officials confirmed that the accused was under the influence of alcohol during the incident.
