Bengaluru Viral News: A 35-year-old content creator has been accused of deliberately running over a street dog with his SUV in Jaynagar and disposing of the body in a gunny bag. The accused, identified as Manjunath Venkatesh from Shekhar Layout, was taken into custody on Thursday evening after an animal activist lodged a complaint.
The incident occurred on December 31 at around 5:30 PM and a CCTV video from a nearby apartment captured the moment Manjunath's Mahindra Thar struck the dog. The footage quickly went viral across social media, prompting calls for strict legal repercussions against him.
According to a Times Of India report, the Talaghattapura police have charged Manjunath under the Cruelty to Animals Act of 1960 and Section 325 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which addresses acts of mischief involving the killing or maiming of animals. His vehicle has also been seized as part of the investigation.

Manjunath, a bachelor, claimed to the police that he was rushing to his office in JP Nagar and did not see the dog lying in the road. However, the complainant insists that the dog was clearly visible and that the act was intentional. "He drove over the dog while it was sleeping. Afterward, he disposed of the body in a gunny bag, which is both uncalled for and inhumane," the complaint stated.
Police officials have indicated that the video evidence contradicts Manjunath's explanation, showing his vehicle's front-left tyre moving over the animal.
