Bengaluru Metro Update: The Namma Metro Yellow Line is scheduled to start operations on January 6, connecting RV Road to Bommasandra. This new line will serve key areas, including Electronics City, home to major companies such as Infosys and Biocon.

Tejasvi Surya, the Lok Sabha MP for Bengaluru South, shared the news on social media, stating, "The first train is ready to be dispatched to Bengaluru on January 6. The second train from Titagarh is expected by late January or early February, with a third train arriving in April. Following that, we will receive one train a month and increase to two trains per month by September."

The Yellow Line spans 18.82 kilometres and will feature 18 stations, significantly alleviating traffic congestion in the city. Key stops along the route include Electronic City, Bommanahalli and HSR Layout, effectively linking Silk Board to Bommasandra.

Initially, three trains will operate on the Yellow Line, with a 30-minute interval. By August 2025, the service is expected to expand to 36 trains, including 15 six-coach sets. The Yellow Line will run from 5 AM to 11 PM, with train frequencies set to every 6-10 minutes during peak hours and every 10-15 minutes during non-peak hours.

Although the Yellow Line was initially expected to launch in 2024, it now aims for commercial operations by the end of January 2025. Once fully operational, the line will greatly improve access to Electronics City, enhancing connectivity across Bengaluru.
