Bengaluru Metro Update: In a major update for the commuters, the eighth driverless metro train for the Yellow Line has arrived in Bengaluru on Sunday. The officials stated that the trainset will undergo technical inspections before being launched for the commercial purposes. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has stated that operation of an extra train will provide convenience to thousands of commuters on a daily basis. The authority further stated that the eighth train will reduce the waiting time by two to four minutes. The officials further stated that more trains will be launched in the upcoming months.

While providing details, the BMRCL has stated that a total of 16 driverless trains have been ordered for the Yellow Line. While eight of the trains have already arrived, the remaining trains are set to arrive in phases in the upcoming months. The authority further stated that the arrival of extra trains will boost the frequency, providing relief to the passengers, especially during the office hours. The Yellow Line operates between RV Road and Bommasandra through 16 stations and has boosted the regional connectivity significantly.

The trains operate at intervals of 10 to 12 minutes on the Yellow Line currently. However, the operation of an extra train will reduce the waiting time to 8 to 10 minutes, offering better convenience to passengers. The officials stated that thousands of people have left the private vehicles and have opted for metro trains as the Yellow Line connects several key regions to the IT corridors.

The BMRCL officials have stated that the construction work is being conducted on other lines for the expansion projects. They asserted that the expansion of metro services will significantly boost the regional connectivity by reducing the traffic congestion.
