A man was killed while another suffered in a pressure cooker blast at their residence in Bengaluru's Puttenahalli on Tuesday. Police said that the incident occurred while the men were cooking rice, adding that no evidence of foul play was found from the spot. However, a National Investigation Agency (NIA) team reached Bengaluru on Wednesday to ascertain the cause of the blast.

The two men, both from Uttar Pradesh, were initially treated for injuries following the explosion. However, one of them later succumbed to his injuries. The force of the blast was strong enough to scatter household items around the vicinity.

Bengaluru Police Commissioner B. Dayananda stated that the explosion was accidental, dismissing any suspicions of a terrorist act. "We have thoroughly checked and ruled out the use of explosives. It was a pressure cooker blast. The injured men are barbers and our investigation has found no evidence of mischief," a senior police official as quoted by HT.

In response to the incident, a National Investigation Agency (NIA) team arrived in Bengaluru on Wednesday to collaborate with local authorities. They are conducting a cross-examination to further assess the cause of the blast and the extent of the damage.

Notably, this investigation follows a low-intensity IED explosion at a Bengaluru restaurant in March, which injured ten people. Further investigation is ongoing and more details are awaited.
