Bengaluru Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department placed Bengaluru and several districts of Karnataka, including Bengaluru Rural, Udupi, Chikkaballapur, Kolar, Tumakuru, Udupi, Vijayapura, Bagalkot, Bidar, and Uttara Kannada under yellow alert, till Thursday, May 15. Strong winds at 30-40 kmph are likely to hit these areas. The weather body also anticipates the early onset of the southwest monsoon in Karnataka.  

Bengaluru Weather Forecast 

The residents of Green City woke up to cloudy skies, expected to persist throughout the day. The city is anticipated to witness thunderstorms, lightning, with spells of rain for the next few days. According to the weather body, the city will receive full-fledged rain towards the end of the week, potentially beginning from coming Monday. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to remain stagnant over the week, with the highest temperature at 33 degrees Celsius and the lowest to hover around 21-22 degrees Celsius.

Several Parts of Bengaluru received spells of rainfall ranging from 27 mm to 10 mm, but none of them lasted for long.

Karnataka Weather Update

The IMD has issued a yellow alert in coastal areas, North Interior Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka.

Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) shared a weather report on X (formerly Twitter) for seven days and wrote, "Thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds with wind speeds reaching 50-60 kmph are possible across the state, with scattered moderate to widespread rainfall and isolated heavy rainfall possible. @KarnatakaVarthe #KSNDMC."

According to the weather department, the city can expect rainfall until May 15, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds of 30-40 km/h. Sudden weather changes are likely, especially during late afternoons and evenings. Residents are advised to stay prepared for any sudden change in weather. 

Monsoon In Karnataka 

The Southwest monsoon session is expected to advance into the South Andaman Sea and parts of the Southeast Bay of Bengal, which is influencing rainfall and activities related to it, like thunderstorms and lightning. The monsoon is also likely to progress into some areas of the Maldives, the Comoros, and the central Bay of Bengal.
