What began as a routine drive back from her farmhouse turned into a terrifying ordeal for a Bengaluru woman after two men allegedly blocked her car, threatened her, and assaulted her husband on the outskirts of the city. The accused have been identified as Mahesh and Govindaraju.

The incident took place on Friday afternoon near Hesaraghatta Grassland in Bengaluru Rural. Rachana had gone to deliver food to her husband Bharat at their farmhouse and was returning home in her Range Rover when she found an Ertiga car allegedly parked across the road with one of its doors left open.

According to NDTV, when Rachana honked to ask them to move the vehicle, one of the men walked up to the driver’s side and asked her to lower the window. The men then allegedly began taking photographs of her, leaving her shaken. She immediately called her husband Bharat for help.

As she spoke to him in Kannada over the phone, the accused allegedly threatened her, saying, "You are a Kannadiga, come I will see you."

Though the men eventually moved their car, the ordeal did not end there. Around 500 metres ahead, the same vehicle allegedly followed Rachana again. Two men reportedly stepped out and surrounded her car, with one allegedly threatening to smash the window if she refused to open it.

Bharat soon reached the spot and confronted the accused, asking them to delete the photographs taken of his wife. After this, he was allegedly pushed to the ground and assaulted. According to the police complaint filed by the couple, one of the accused picked up a stone and attempted to attack Bharat on the head with it.

The situation was brought under control only after Bharat’s relatives, Prakash and Lakshmikanth, arrived and helped rescue him. Rachana also alleged in her complaint that the accused appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and used abusive language throughout the confrontation.

Rachana is the daughter-in-law of former Bengaluru deputy mayor and BJP leader S Harish.
