Jagran Correspondent, Arrah (Bhojpur) | The postmortem report has been released in the Bharat Bhushan Tiwari encounter case, which took place in Bilauti village, Shahpur police station area, Bhojpur district on June 17, creating a huge outrage against the Samrat Choudhary government.
What Post-Mortem Report Revealed
According to the post-mortem report, Tiwari was hit by a total of five bullets, contradicting the early reports of four bullets. The first bullet struck the upper part of the left thigh from the front. The second bullet struck the inner part of the middle part of the left thigh.
Four Bullets Pierced The Body, One Remains Inside
Four bullets pierced the body, while one bullet was found inside the body during the postmortem and has been preserved for the probe. The third bullet struck the inner part of the middle part of the right thigh, the fourth bullet struck the outer part of the right thigh, and the fifth bullet struck the middle part of the left leg from the back.
What Triggered The Encounter?
A day before the encounter, Tiwari was seen pointing his pistol towards police personnel at his house. The video of the incident created outrage over the law and order situation. The next day, on June 17, the police killed him in an encounter. The family members alleged that it was a fake encounter and Tiwari was killed, although he had surrendered his gun.

According to the police, five rounds were fired by them and 10 to 15 rounds by the accused. No police personnel were injured in the encounter. Tiwari was seriously injured in the encounter and was sent to PMCH for treatment, where he died during treatment.
Following this, a post-mortem examination was conducted at PMCH under the supervision of a magistrate that night.
Police recovered a loaded pistol, a magazine, two live cartridges, and two empty shells from the scene. A joint team of the district police and the Special Task Force (STF) was involved in the raid. According to the FIR, an STF personnel fired four rounds, and the then station head fired one round from his service pistol.
Two FIRs, Including On Murder Filed Against Police Personnel
Two separate FIRs were filed by the police regarding the encounter and firing, with the Shahabad DIG responsible for investigating and overseeing the case. The deceased's mother, Asha Devi, has filed a murder FIR at the Shahpur police station against the then Jagdishpur DSP, the then-station-in-charge, and other police officers.
