Bhopal Water Cut: The Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced that water supply will be affected for 36 hours due to necessary repair work in the gravity main pipeline of the Kolar Water Supply Project. The pipeline was closed from 10 am on Tuesday. The repair work is likely to continue till late night, Naidunia reported.

According to the Municipal Corporation, this work is being done to make the city's water supply system more secure and reliable in the future. However, this will result in water shortages in several key areas of the capital, potentially causing disruptions to homes, hospitals, schools, and businesses.

Bhopal Water Cut Area

-Water supply to several key areas connected to the Kolar Project will be affected. These include Shahjahanabad, Nishatpura, Hamidia Road, Moti Masjid, Shahpura, Trilanga, Arera Colony, Tulsi Nagar, Shivaji Nagar, Char Imli, Chuna Bhatti, Kolar Basti, Nehru Nagar, Kotra Sultanabad, MP Nagar, and Gulmohar Colony.

-Additionally, water supply will be cut off in several colonies within Zones 3, 5, 6, 7, and 8. The Municipal Corporation has appealed to citizens to store sufficient water in advance and use it judiciously.

Why Is The Repair Necessary?

-Municipal officials say that technical repairs to the pipeline have been long overdue. If they are not completed promptly, they could lead to major water supply disruptions in the future. Therefore, the pipeline is being shut down for a specified period of time and extensive repairs are being carried out.

-According to City Engineer Udit Garg, repair work began onTuesday morning and will continue until late at night. It will also take time for the pipeline to refill and the pressure to return to normal, which could take approximately 36 hours to restore water supply.

Residents Advised To Plan Day In Advance

-The municipal corporation has appealed to residents to store water as needed and avoid unnecessary use. Hospitals, schools, hotels, and large residential complexes have been particularly advised to ensure alternative arrangements.

-Officials apologised for the inconvenience and said this temporary disruption is necessary to improve the city's water supply system in the long run and make it more reliable. Residents of the capital will need to use every drop of water wisely over the next two days.
