In a major step towards connecting the border region of Bihar with national and international air connectivity, the process of rebuilding Raxaul airport has been expedited. Tenders for engineering consultancy services have been issued for the construction of airside infrastructure including the runway, apron, taxiway of the airport.

Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary shared this information on the social media platform X. He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this project.

Connectivity To Increase In Border Area

The CM said that this initiative will prove to be a milestone in connecting the border area with national and international connectivity. Samrat Choudhary said that the reconstruction of Raxaul Airport will facilitate air travel in the Champaran region. This will give a new impetus to trade, tourism and the local economy.

He added that with the resolve of the double engine government, Bihar is moving towards new heights of development.

Airport To Be Reconstructed With Investment Of Rs 1,200 Cr

Under this ambitious project costing around Rs 1200 crore, the runway of the airport will be extended to 2360 metres.

After completion, the construction will allow landings of large commercial aircraft as well as fighter jets. The process of acquiring 139 acres of land for the project has also begun.

The state government has approved Rs 208 crore for this purpose. It is believed that the development of Raxaul Airport will significantly benefit commercial activities in areas bordering Nepal.
