Chhattisgarh Encounter: At least 14 Maoists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma and Bijapur districts. While two Maoists were killed in Bijapur district, 12 others were eliminated in Sukma's forest region. The officials stated that the encounter broke out in the forest regions, adding that automatic weapons were also recovered from the sites. They further stated that the search operation was launched based on intelligence regarding the presence of Naxalites in the region.

"12 naxals killed in an encounter that broke out between DRG and Naxals in the forest under Kistaram area of Sukma district. Automatic weapons were also recovered," SP Sukma Kiran Chavan stated. The bodies of two Maoist cadres, including Hunga Madkam, were found in the forests of Gaganpalli village in Basaguda, Bijapur, senior officials in the Ministry of Home Affairs were quoted as saying by PTI.

"Based on intelligence regarding the presence of armed Maoists in the southern region of Bijapur district, a search operation was launched. A team of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) was on an operation in the South Bastar region. Intermittent exchanges of fire between the DRG and Maoists have been ongoing since 5.00 AM," IG Bastar P Sundarraj was quoted as saying by ANI.

"So far, the bodies of two Maoists have been recovered from the encounter site during the search operation," he added. The officials stated that the Konta area committee of Maoists was almost wiped out in the encounter at Sukma, adding that nearly 300 Naxalites were gunned down in separate encounters in Chhattisgarh in 2025.
