Making a veiled attack at Congress leader and four-time MP Shashi Tharoor over his recent "critics and trolls" post, senior party leader Pawan Khera said that he agreed what the Thiruvananthapuram MP wrote in his book 'The Paradoxical Prime Minister: Narendra Modi and His India'.

Pawan Khera posted pictures from the book on X with certain parts highlighted in it. Here, Shashi Tharoor has accused the Narendra Modi government of "repeatedly using the army in its political propaganda". "The shameless exploitation of the 2016 surgical strikes' along the Line of Control with Pakistan, and of a military raid in hot pursuit of rebels in Myanmar, as party election tool-something the Congress had never done despite having authorized several such strikes earlier-marked particularly disgraceful dilution of the principle that national Security issues require both discretion and non-partisanship," Tharoor has written.

Adding to that, Pawan Khera wrote, "I agree with what Dr Shashi Tharoor writes about surgical strikes in his book 'The Paradoxical Prime Minister'."

Shashi Tharoor on Thursday hit back at the party's internal critics by stating that his statements were being twisted to use against him. Tharoor stated that his remarks in Panama (about India breaching LoC first time in 2016 to respond to the terror attacks) were about the recent attacks and not the previous wars.

Recently, Shashi Tharoor led an Indian delegation to the United States and four other countries as part of India's global outreach after the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor. A massive controversy sparked when Tharoor praised PM Modi and stated that India breached the Line of Control for the first time in 2016 to conduct a surgical strike in terror camps of Pakistan.

"After a long and successful day in Panama, i have to wind up at midnightvhere with departure for Bogota, Colombia in six hours, so I don’t really have time for this — but anyway: For those zealots fulminating about my supposed ignorance of Indian valour across the LoC: in tge past. 1. I was clearly and explicitly speaking only about reprisals for terrorist attacks and not about previous wars; & 2. My remarks were preceded by a reference to the several attacks that have taken place in recent years alone, during which previous Indian responses were both restrained and constrained by our responsible respect for the LoC and the IB. But as usual, critics and trolls are welcome to distort my views and words as they see fit. I genuinely have better things to do. Goodnight," Shashi Tharoor wrote on his X handle.

Earlier on Wednesday, Udit Raj slammed Tharoor for allegedly disrespecting the previous efforts of the Congress government, further stating that Tharoor was speaking like a BJP spokesperson. "My dear Shashi Tharoor, Alas! I could prevail upon PM Modi to declare you as super spokesperson of BJP, even declaring (you) as the foreign minister before landing in India. How could you denigrate the golden history of Congress by saying that before PM Modi , India never crossed LoC and International border," Udit Raj stated in his post.
