Covid-19 Cases India 2025: Covid 19 has been rapidly spreading its footprint in the country. The number of cases of the viral infection is about to touch the 4000 mark. As per the information available on the official website of the Ministry of Health, a total of 3961 active cases of Coronavirus have been found in the country till June 1.   

Union Minister of State for Health and AYUSH (Independent Charge), Prataprao Jadhav, said the Covid situation was being closely monitored and the Centre was fully prepared to handle the situation.

“Both our Central Health Department and the AYUSH Ministry are fully alert and closely monitoring the situation across all states. We have spoken with the respective Health and AYUSH Secretaries, as well as other concerned ministers,” news agency ANI reported him as saying. 

Covid Cases In India: State-wise Case Load

States, including Kerala, Maharashtra, Delhi, Gujarat and West Bengal, are amongst the worst-hit due to the resurging wave of the viral infection. Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh are also witnessing a significant surge in Covid cases. 

Covid Cases In Kerala

Kerala is witnessing a maximum number of Covid cases, with 1435 active cases reported till June 2. As many as 35 fresh cases were reported on Monday. Over 717 persons were discharged, cured or migrated after their recovery. Eight persons have so far died due to the viral infection, as per the Health Ministry website.

Covid Cases In Maharashtra 

Maharashtra is also contributing to the surge, with 506 active cases reported from the state. Maharashtra has also reported eight deaths so far. 

Covid Cases In Delhi

The national capital currently has 483 active cases of Covid 19. 47 fresh cases of the viral infection were reported on Monday. This is the highest single-day rise in cases across the country today. The viral infection has led to four deaths in Delhi so far. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said there were adequate arrangements and the government was prepared for any eventuality.

Covid Cases In Gujarat 

Gujarat’s Covid case load is currently at 338. 120 persons have so far been cured of the infection. One person succumbed to illness linked to the viral infection so far.  

Covid Cases In West Bengal

West Bengal currently has 331 active cases of Covid 19. The state witnessed 44 fresh cases on Monday, making it the second state after Delhi to witness the highest single-day surge. 27 persons have been cured. No deaths have been reported in West Bengal so far. 

Dr Rajiv Behl, Director General of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), said people should be cautious but there was nothing to worry about. He said the current rise is driven by subvariants of Omicron, mainly LF.7, XFG, JN.1, and NB.1.8.1, which have shown mild symptoms so far.

Karnataka Health Department has issued an advisory asking private and government schools across the state to ensure the safety of students by taking necessary precautions.
