Delhi News: An 18-year-old woman from Delhi was found dead at her home, with her family claiming she died by suicide due to problems in her relationship with a distant cousin. She was alone when she called her mother, telling her she had prepared chapatis for dinner. However, when her mother returned, she found her hanging.

Preeti Kushwaha, who worked at a private firm in Delhi, had developed a close bond with the cousin after meeting him during a family visit to their hometown two years ago. According to a NDTV report, the two eventually entered into a secret marriage, which only came to light after her death when friends revealed chat messages and photos exchanged between them.

Secret Marriage Discovered After Death

In messages exchanged over the past year, she referred to him as “husband ji” and mentioned his name as “Rinku ji.” Photos also surfaced, showing the man applying vermilion to her forehead, a traditional sign of marriage. The family was unaware of this relationship until after her death.

Shaved Head Linked To Relationship

Recently, Preeti had shaved her head, which led to a disagreement with her sister. While she claimed that she wanted to cut her hair due to damage, her brother eventually shaved it at home. After her death, messages revealed that her alleged partner had often complimented her looks and once remarked, “What will I do if someone else likes you?” The family now believes this could be linked to her decision.

In the days leading up to her death, Preeti appeared distressed. Friends reported that the couple had recently experienced a falling out, with the man allegedly cutting off all communication and blocking her number. This rejection deeply affected Preeti, leading her into a state of depression

Phone Calls And Social Media Activity

In a social media post from March 13, she wrote, “What if he doesn’t text me? He must remember me.” Another post on March 19 stated, “It used to matter before. Now, we don’t even look at them.”

On the day of the incident, she reportedly ordered pizza and a cold drink. Records show that she tried calling the alleged partner before her death, but there was no response.
