Delhi AQI Update: The air quality in the national capital continued to worsen on Monday, as a dense blanket of smog enveloped the city. The city’s air quality plunged into the ‘severe plus’ category with the Air Quality Early Warning System (AQEWS) recording an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 454 in the early hours of Monday.

Delhi AQI Today: Check Data

According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), several hotspots, such as Barakhamba Road, recorded a severe AQI of 474. Pollution levels were even worse near Akshardham, where the AQI peaked at 493, and similar dangerous conditions were reported from Dwarka Sector-14, which registered an AQI of 469.

An AQI is considered 'moderate' (101-200), 'poor' (201-300), and 'very poor' (301-400), 'severe' (400-450), while readings of 450 and above fall under the 'severe plus' category.

Delhi Airport Issues Advisory

In view of the dense fog, the Delhi airport issued an advisory on Monday morning, warning passengers of possible flight delays. Due to the poor visibility, passengers have been advised to contact their respective airlines for updated schedules and flight status before proceeding to the airport.

“Due to dense fog, flight operations may experience disruptions. We are working closely with all stakeholders to minimise inconvenience to passengers. For the latest flight updates, passengers are advised to contact their respective airlines. We sincerely regret any inconvenience caused,” the Delhi Airport advisory read.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), IndiGo wrote, “Low visibility and fog over #Delhi will impact flight schedules. We're keeping a close watch on the weather and doing our best to get you where you need to be, safely and smoothly. We request you to stay updated on your flight status via our website or app. Be assured, our teams are here to assist you at every step and ensure support.”

Delhi Weather

A thick blanket of smog covered the national capital on Monday, reducing visibility across the city. In view of the deteriorating weather conditions, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert, urging residents to stay alert.

The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 23 degrees Celsius, and the minimum temperature is likely to dip to 8 degrees Celsius.
