Republic Day 2025: As part of heightened security measures for Republic Day, the runway at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport will be temporarily closed from 10:20 am to 12:45 pm daily until January 26. This closure is expected to result in the rescheduling or cancellation of several flights, particularly on the Mumbai-Delhi route, one of the busiest in the country.

As a result, over 1,300 flights will be impacted, with 665 departures and 671 arrivals likely to face disruptions. During this time, there will be approximately 81-85 departures and 82-87 arrivals each day.

According to ATC sources, "The closure is necessary for rehearsals, exercises and flypasts ahead of the Republic Day parade. The Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) has informed airlines and passengers about the airspace restrictions."

The impacted flights include international routes to destinations such as Toronto, Washington, Tashkent, Kathmandu, and Colombo. Delhi Airport has also released an official notice regarding the disruptions.

The notice reads, "Strict security arrangements have been made at Delhi Airport for your safety. Please plan your travel well and cooperate with our security staff to ensure a smooth and safe experience."

According to sources cited by Jagran.com, "Some flights may be rescheduled instead of being cancelled completely."

Avoid closing times: Book flights to Delhi other than between 10:20 a.m. and 12:45 PM. This will assist guarantee that airspace closures do not disrupt the travel.

Be Prepared for Delays: Longer security checks are likely as a result of improved security procedures. Similarly, flights that are delayed during the closure time will be modified afterward, so some planes arriving after the closure period will be delayed as well.

Track your flight: Keep a record of every flight you get from the booking platform or your airline.
