Delhi Traffic Advisory For January 23: Traffic will be disrupted in several sections of Delhi on Thursday, January 23, due to the full dress rehearsal for the Republic Day parade, the Delhi Police announced on Wednesday. A traffic alert was issued by the police, asking commuters to plan their trips appropriately because the Republic Day procession will be traveling down several of the central Delhi routes.

Several major roads will be closed from the evening of January 22 until the morning of January 23 as the rehearsal moves from Vijay Chowk towards Red Fort, starting at 10:30 am.

To prevent any delays, commuters have been instructed by the police to plan their trip ahead of time and allow enough additional time to get there.

Delhi Traffic Advisory For January 23

  • Traffic will be prohibited on Kartavya Path from Vijay Chowk to India Gate beginning at 6 PM on January 22 (Wednesday) and ending after the rehearsal on Thursday.
  • On January 23, at 10.30 AM, the parade rehearsal will begin from Vijay Chowk and go along Kartavyapath, C-Hexagon, and around Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, and Netaji Subhash Marg before arriving at Red Fort.
  • There will be no cross-traffic on Kartavya Path between Janpath, Man Singh Road, and Rafi Marg after 11 PM on January 22 till the procession is over.
  • Traffic is prohibited on January 23 from 9.15 am till the march crossed Tilak Marg at C-Hexagon-India Gate.
  • Beginning at 10:30 am on January 23, traffic in both directions would not be permitted on Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, and Netaji Subhas Marg. Cross-traffic will be allowed depending on the parade's movement. Commuters are urged to avoid the procession route from 9.30 AM to 1 PM.
  • Metro services will function as usual. There would be no limitations for passengers from North Delhi heading to New Delhi Railway Station or Old Delhi.
  • Buses will be diverted, and large vehicles will be prohibited from entering Delhi between 9 PM on January 22 until the completion of the rehearsal.
  • The movement of city buses will be restricted at Park Street/Udyan Marg, Aram Bagh Road (Paharganj), Kamla Market roundabout, Delhi Secretariat (IG Stadium), Pragati Maidan (Bhairon Road), Hanuman Mandir (Yamuna Bazar), Mori Gate, ISBT-Kashmiri Gate, ISBT-Sarai Kale Khan, and Tis Hazari Court.
  • Buses departing from Ghaziabad for Shivaji Stadium will travel along National Highway-24, Ring Road, and finish at Bhairon Road. Buses traveling from National Highway-24 will turn right into Road No. 56 and arrive at ISBT-Anand Vihar.
  • Buses arriving from Ghaziabad will be redirected from Mohan Nagar to Bhopra Chungi for the Wazirabad Bridge.
  • Except for necessary services, no heavy, medium, or light vehicles will be permitted to enter Delhi's boundaries beginning at 9 PM on Wednesday until the parade is over.
  • In the area bounded by Mother Teresa Crescent, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, Ashoka Road up to the roundabout Patel Chowk, Sansad Marg, Kasturba Gandhi Marg up to Ferozshah Road, Ferozshah Road up to the roundabout Mandi House, Bhagwan Dass Road, Mathura Road, Subramanian Bharti Marg, Humayun Road, APJ Abdul Kalam Marg, Kemal Ataturk Marg, and Kautilya Marg, neither autorickshaws nor taxis will be permitted to enter or operate after 7 am on Thursday.
