Arvind Kejriwal, former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party's national convenor has written a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah requesting a meeting to discuss concerns regarding the degrading law and order situation in Delhi. In his letter, Kejriwal highlighted how the crime has witnessed a sharp increase in the national capital despite its law and order falling under the central government.
The city is increasingly being recognised as the "crime capital" across the country India and abroad, Kejriwal stated in his letter, news agency ANI reported.
Further, Arvind Kejriwal also noted the steep rise in extortion gangs, bomb threats at airports and schools, and a significant 350 per cent increase in drug-related crimes, all of which have contributed to growing security concerns among residents.
"Delhi's law and order is under the Central Government., but Delhi is now being known as the capital of crime," the former Chief Minister said.

"Delhi ranks number one in crimes against women among 19 metro cities of India, Delhi ranks number one in murder cases and extortion gangs are active across the city," said Kejriwal.
"Airports and schools are receiving bomb threats and drug-related crimes have increased by 350 per cent, worrying people across the city for their security," he said.
Earlier this week, Arvind Kejriwal criticised Home Minister Amit Shah, claiming that the Bharatiya Janata Party has lost control over maintaining law and order in the national capital.
"Amit Shah ji has ruined Delhi. He has turned Delhi into a jungle raj. People are living a life of terror everywhere. BJP is no longer able to handle the law and order situation in Delhi. The people of Delhi will have to unite and raise their voices," Arvind Kejriwal posted on X.
Meanwhile, AAP also took a jibe at the Union Home Minister Amit Shah, posting his picture with the caption "Seeing Delhi bleeding, Mogambo is happy" over social media platform X.
Aam Aadmi Party MPs have regularly submitted suspension of business notices in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, urging discussions on the worsening law and order situation, increasing crime rates, and threats to public representatives.
Earlier this week, following bomb threats received by several schools in Delhi on Monday, AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal criticized Union Home Minister Amit Shah, questioning the security measures in place and highlighting the public's demand for clarity on steps being taken to ensure their safety.
