Delhi Police Crime Branch arrested seven people including a doctor in connection with an organ transplant racket exposed by Delhi Police Crime Branch. The people involved in this racket had links in Bangladesh. They used to charge Rs 25-30 lakhs for each transplant. The racket which has been running since 2019 had the donor and the receiver, both from Bangladesh, Delhi Police said.

As per the police, Dr Vijaya Kumari, now under suspension, was the lone doctor working with the gang and had performed nearly 15-16 transplants between 2021-2023 at the Noida-based private Yatharth Hospital.

According to records, patients from Bangladesh were lured by a network of middlemen, Kumari, and their associates for organ transplantation in major hospitals in the NCR region.
