Delhi Hot Air Balloon: Delhi residents will soon have a new weekend attraction as the city is set to launch a tethered hot air balloon ride at Bansera Park near Sarai Kale Khan. The project completed its trial run on Tuesday, during which Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena took a short flight and officially flagged off the initiative. The ride will be open to the public from Saturday, November 29, 2025.

Delhi Hot Air Balloon: Trial Run Conducted; LG Saxena Takes Test Flight

The balloon has been installed along the Yamuna riverbank and is designed to offer visitors an elevated view of Delhi’s landmarks. During the trial, the LG ascended to nearly 120 feet, describing the experience as refreshing and promising new recreational avenues for residents. “We will try to do something new for our people, we will start something new for their maintenance,” Saxena said. He explained that the concept is planned across four routes, beginning with Asita and Yamunavartika, and will gradually expand once the service stabilises.

He added that during the trial run he ascended to over 100 feet and found the experience enjoyable. He noted that the passenger ride would last about 15–20 minutes. Saxena emphasised that more such facilities are planned to align with the vision of making Delhi “very beautiful and very healthy.”

Referring to the broader civic efforts, the LG said that several improvement measures are underway in the city. He stated that advisory teams are working on issues related to public safety and that residents will notice progress gradually.

Delhi Hot Air Balloon: Rs 3,000 Ticket For 15–20 Minute Experience

The LG also addressed questions about public interest and ticket charges. Each ride will cost Rs 3,000 plus taxes, with a maximum capacity of four people per trip. The balloon will operate twice daily, in the morning and evening, depending on weather conditions.

Saxena remarked that implementing new public services in a large city like Delhi requires time and careful planning. While speaking about the challenges of enforcement, he noted that government bodies, including the NDMC, are actively working on Supreme Court directions and other civic matters.Delhi hot air balloon (Image/ Dhruv Kumar)

The city administration expects the attraction to draw significant crowds once operational.
