Delhi-Mumbai Expressway: The work to transform Kalindi Kunj Road, which connects the industrial city of Delhi, Noida, and Greater Noida, into a four-lane road is set to begin soon. The Uttar Pradesh Irrigation Department's Lucknow headquarters approved the DPR for this project. This DPR will also be submitted to authorities from the Faridabad Metropolitan Development Authority. Following that, both departments will sign a memorandum of understanding. Then the tender procedure will begin.
Former Chief Minister Manohar Lal said in September 2023 that this route will be expanded to four lanes. The Uttar Pradesh Irrigation Department owns the road and will develop it. More than one lakh commuters would benefit every day once the route is developed.
This total project costs 278 crores. This project would build a 20-kilometre-long four-lane road from Sahupura Chowk to Palla Bridge. From Palla Bridge, this route joins the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, which continues to Kalindi Kunj. Its construction is underway.
Along with the road, a 20-kilometre-long pedestrian and cycling track will be developed. There will be a 1.5-metre divider in the middle.
There will be trees planted and street lights installed there. One side of the road will also see the development of a green belt. Both vehicle lanes will be 15 metres wide. A three-metre-wide cycling track and a 1.80-metre-wide sidewalk will be constructed. Six flyovers will be erected along this road. These are IMT, Chandavali, Sector-8 Baroli, BPTP, Khedi Cut, and Palla.
Another layer will be put on the already constructed two-lane road. The empty space beside the road will be filled up with a new road.
Connectivity To Jewar Airport
This route at Sahupura will link to the highway leading to Noida International Airport. Delhi is close to the area, however, because of traffic, it seems quite far away. A journey of minutes takes hours.
The completion of the Badarpur bridge has provided some respite, but people who use other routes continue to face challenges.
Surajkund, the alternative road to Delhi, is considered dangerous. Besides robberies, there are several accidents here. Apart from that, traversing Delhi to get to Noida and Greater Noida is really difficult. Due to the Yamuna River in between, one must go through Delhi and Palwal.
