Delhi-Mumbai Expressway: The Delhi-Mumbai expressway, which is India’s first eight-lane tunnel, is set to open for the Kota to Delhi route. The eight-lane tunnel is part of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, covering six states - Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra.

When Will Eight-Lane Tunnel Be Completed On Delhi-Mumbai Expressway

By the end of this year, vehicles will be able to travel quickly from Kota to Delhi on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. The final phase of work is ongoing, but one part - building an 8-lane tunnel in Mukundra Hills - will take about four more months to complete. The last stretch of work on the Kota-Delhi route is almost done, except for shifting two high-tension power lines that cross the expressway.

The work on a 26.5-kilometre-long stretch, which is part of the aspirational Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, being built under package number 10, is underway.

The final phase of the work on the tunnel, being built in Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve, is expected to be completed by November end and the operation is likely to begin from early December.

According to the Project Director of Dausa PIU, Bharat Singh, who is overseeing the work on this package, the work was affected due to the damage to the routes leading to the construction site caused by heavy rainfall.

Delhi-Mumbai Expressway: When Will Kota-Delhi Stretch Open

Currently, on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, you can access the Kota to Laban route in Bundi district. Motorists then need to transition to the Kota-Lalasoth mega highway, covering approximately 60 km, before rejoining the expressway at Kushthala in Sawai Madhopur to continue their journey to Delhi.

The completion of the remaining package work is the final step required to fully operationalise the Kota-Delhi route.
