Delhi Air Pollution: The air quality of Delhi and nearby cities remained in the "severe" category on Tuesday, leading to lower visibility and breath-related issues. The worsened situation in the capital city has been troubling the residents and the commuters for the past few weeks. Delhi's average Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 284 at 6 pm, which falls in the severe category. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that the air quality is not likely to significantly improve in the upcoming days. The health ministry has also advised the residents to limit their outings and wear a mask during the outdoor activities.

While the AQI of Faridabad was recorded at 321, the AQI of Noida was recorded at 287, Gurgaon at 282, Ghaziabad at 261, Hapur at 236, and Sonipat at 235, all in the severe category. Apart from this, the IMD has stated that the temperature of Delhi is likely to significantly drop in the upcoming days. The weather department stated that the residents are also set to witness a cold wave and fog, especially in the early hours till December 8. It stated that the presence of fog is likely to lead to inconvenience to the commuters due to the lowered visibility.

The officials stated that the situation is likely to worsen in the next 48 hours as intensified fog and slower wind speeds trap the toxic particles near the surface, further reducing visibility. While the maximum temperature is likely to be calculated at 24 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature is likely to remain around 15 degrees Celsius.

- December 3: The residents are likely to witness shallow fog in the morning hours and cold waves at isolated spots.

- December 4: Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to remain around 22-24 degrees Celsius and 7-9 degrees Celsius, respectively.

- December 5: Cold wave, along with fog, is expected in the morning hours, leading to inconveniences.
