Delhi-NCR Weather: Sudden heavy showers hit parts of Delhi-NCR on Dussehra, disrupting Ravan Dahan preparations and festivities. The untimely rainfall caught many off guard as celebrations were underway across the city. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the capital was expected to witness a generally cloudy sky, with chances of light rain and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.
In light of the weather conditions, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled participation in Dussehra festivities in the national capital was cancelled due to heavy rain.
According to officials, he was scheduled to attend the IP Extension Ramlila Committee event in Patparganj, East Delhi, around 6 PM on Thursday.
However, the rainfall has dampened the festive spirit on Vijaya Dashami across the country, disrupting Dussehra celebrations. In West Delhi, visuals have emerged showing a Ravan effigy lying on the ground, underscoring the impact of the sudden downpour. The unseasonal rain caught many by surprise, putting a damper on Ravan Dahan preparations and raising concerns about the continuation of evening festivities.
