Rajendra Nagar Road Rage: Six people, including five UPSC aspirants, were injured when a speeding car struck them in the Old Rajendra Nagar area of Central Delhi on Tuesday evening. Chaos ensued at the scene, and the driver, who was found to be intoxicated, was apprehended by locals. The police were notified and arrived promptly to take the injured to Lady Hardinge and RML hospitals. While most of the victims are in stable condition, one student remains critical.
The driver, identified as Prem Kumar, was beaten by the crowd before being handed over to the police. A case has been registered against him, and an investigation is underway. The police are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to determine the cause of the accident. Initial findings confirm that the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
Central District Deputy Commissioner of Police, M Harshvardhan, reported that his team was alerted on Tuesday evening about a white i-10 car that had struck several pedestrians on Bada Bazar Road, Old Rajendra Nagar. Upon receiving the information, the police quickly arrived at the scene, where the injured were rushed to the hospital. The driver, who had been apprehended by the crowd, was handed over to the police.
The injured- Lokesh, Babi, Shivam, Harshita, Stephen, and Vipul, were admitted to various hospitals. The victims, aged between 24 and 30 years, are mostly UPSC aspirants residing in Rajendra Nagar, with the exception of Harshita. The accused, Prem Kumar, was driving a car owned by a businessman.
