Delhi Weather Alert: IMD Issues Heavy Rain Alert In NCR After Overnight Showers Bring Heat Relief | Check Forecast

Delhi Weather Alert: Several parts of the national capital witnessed heavy overnight rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and strong gusty winds on Thursday night, bringing much-needed relief from the intense heat and humidity that had gripped the city over the past few days.

Meanwhile, dark clouds continued to hover over the Delhi-NCR region on Friday morning, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting more rain and thunderstorm activity throughout the day.

The weather department has issued an orange alert for Friday, warning of thunderstorms, lightning and widespread rainfall, along with strong surface winds reaching speeds of up to 90 kmph at isolated locations. According to the IMD, weather activity is expected to intensify as the system strengthens, increasing the chances of heavy rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds across the region.

The rainfall is likely to bring a significant drop in temperatures. The maximum temperature is expected to settle around 32 degrees Celsius, while the minimum may remain close to 26 degrees Celsius. The IMD further noted that minimum temperatures could fall by another 6 to 8 degrees Celsius over the next 48 hours.

Will Ghaziabad, Noida and Faridabad Receive Rain?

The IMD has forecast light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thundershowers across North, Northeast, Northwest and East Delhi on Friday. Similar conditions are expected in Ghaziabad, Dadri, Loni, Hindon Air Force Station and Chhapraula.

Meanwhile, South and Southeast Delhi, along with Noida, Greater Noida and Faridabad, are likely to receive light rain accompanied by gusty winds ranging between 30 and 50 kmph.

Across the capital, winds are expected to blow at speeds of 40 to 50 kmph, with gusts touching 60 kmph during thunderstorm activity. The IMD has also predicted the possibility of rain and thunderstorms during the evening hours.

Thunderstorms, lightning and light to moderate rainfall are expected to continue through June 13. Cloudy skies, strong winds and intermittent showers are likely across several parts of Delhi-NCR on June 13 and 14 as well.
