Delhi-NCR was covered with a thick fog blanket on Saturday morning, reducing visibility and keeping the skies cloudy. The cold has intensified due to a slight downpour in the evening. The minimum temperature in Delhi on Saturday morning was 11°C, which dropped to 7.7°C after the rain in the evening. The maximum temperature was recorded at 17°C, three degrees below normal.

Snowfall occurred in the mountains of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Light rain was also reported in Punjab, Haryana and western Uttar Pradesh, which caused a drop in temperature and increased the chill in North India. A dense fog persisted in Delhi from late Friday night to Saturday morning for about seven and a half hours. On Saturday morning, the visibility at IGI Airport was reduced to 200 meters, but flights were not cancelled.

The fog had the greatest impact on train operations, with trains in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh running hours late, causing inconvenience to passengers. According to the meteorological department, light rain and fog are expected in Delhi on Sunday morning due to the influence of a western disturbance.

In Kashmir, most areas recorded temperatures well below freezing. Pahalgam, at -7.6°C, was the coldest area in the valley. The meteorological department has predicted snowfall and rain in several regions over the next 24 hours.

In Himachal Pradesh, light snowfall occurred in areas such as Rohtang, Baralacha, Shinkula and Kunzum on Saturday. Most places in the state remained cloudy, resulting in a temperature drop of 5 to 11.4°C. In Tabo, the maximum temperature dropped by 11.4°C, in Dharamshala by 9.4°C, in Bhuntar by 8°C, in Mandi by 7.3°C and in Shimla by 5.6°C. The meteorological department has forecasted snowfall at higher altitudes and rain with strong winds in lower regions on Sunday.

In Uttarakhand, clouds lingered from the mountains to the plains and snowfall on the Himalayan peaks had begun. The cold increased throughout the region. According to the meteorological department, light rain and snowfall are expected in the hilly areas, while dense fog is likely to persist in the plains, with a yellow alert issued.

On Saturday, a western disturbance caused rainfall in six districts of Punjab, accompanied by strong winds, resulting in a bitter cold throughout the day. Dense fog also engulfed several districts, with visibility recorded at 20 meters. After the rain, the day’s temperature dropped by 6°C. Gurdaspur, with a minimum temperature of 3.8°C, was the coldest place in Punjab.

The meteorological department in Chandigarh has predicted dense fog in the state on Sunday and Monday, issuing an orange alert. In Haryana, rain occurred in 10 districts on Saturday and the weather department has warned of clouds and dense fog on Sunday.

In Bihar, the effects of fog persisted in several districts, and light rain is expected in some parts of 11 districts. Patna recorded a minimum temperature of 10.1°C, while Dehri Rohtas was the coldest at 4.5°C.

In Uttar Pradesh, the weather was pleasant in many districts, including Lucknow, on Saturday, with bright sunshine throughout the day, which led to a rise in temperature and provided some relief from the cold. According to meteorologist Atul Kumar Singh from the Regional Meteorological Center, light showers may occur in some districts on Sunday due to the western disturbance.
