Delhi Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a generally cloudy sky with one or two spells of light rain and thunderstorms during morning hours on August 15. The forecast is important for those attending the 79th Independence Day programme on Friday at Delhi's historic Red Fort. The celebrations in the national capital will be led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. IMD has also alerted residents of another spell of rain during the evening on Friday.

As per IMD, the maximum temperature is expected to range between 31 and 33 degrees Celsius while the minimum temperature will stay between 23 and 25 degrees Celsius.

Parts of Delhi-NCR received spells of rain early on Thursday morning, affecting traffic movement and creating waterlogging issues. The national capital and neighbouring districts have been receiving intermittent showers since last week.

Delhi Weather Forecast

August 16: Delhi will see a cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers. Temperature will be around 32 degrees Celsius during the day and 23 degrees Celsius at night. The humidity will range between 90 and 65 per cent.

17 August: Light rain or drizzle is likely. Temperature will be around 33 degrees Celsius during the day and 24 degrees Celsius at night. Humidity will stay between 90-65 per cent.

18 August: Rain activity accompanied by thunderstorms are expected. Temperature will be around 33 degrees Celsius during the day and 25 degrees Celsius at night, with humidity between 85 and 60 per cent.

Delhi Traffic Advisory For Independence Day

Restriction Around Red Fort

The following roads will be closed for general traffic from 4 am to 10 am on August 15 and only labelled vehicles will be permitted entry on these roads.

-Netaji Subhash Marg from Delhi Gate to C. Hexagon.

-SP Mukherjee Marg from HC Sen Marg to Yamuna Bazar Chowk.

-Chandni Chowk Road from Fountain Chowk to Red Fort.

-Nishad Raj Marg from Ring Road to Netaji Subhash Marg.

-Esplanade Road and its Link Road to Netaji Subhash Marg.

-Ring Road from Rajghat to ISBT.

Avoid THESE Routes If Without Parking Labels:

In its advisory, the Delhi traffic police has requested that vehicles which do not have parking labels avoid following routes-

1. C-Hexagon

2.India Gate

3. Copernicus Marg

4. Mandi House

5. Sikandra Road W Point

6. A Point Tilak Marg

7. Mathura Road

8. BSZ Marg

9. Netaji Subhash Marg

10. JL Nehru Marg

11. Ring Road between Nizzamuddin Khatta and ISBT Kashmiri Gate

12. Outer Ring Road from Nizzamuddin Khatta and ISBT Kashmiri Gate via Salimgarh bypass.
