Delhi Weather Update: Several parts of Delhi-NCR and Uttar Pradesh received light rainfall since last night, leading to a drop in temperature and improved air quality. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has also predicted heavy snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh on Thursday. Additionally, many districts in Uttar Pradesh are likely to experience rain and thunderstorms. Meanwhile, states like Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh may see light snowfall and showers in the coming days.

Weather Change Brings Colder Conditions to Delhi & UP

The weather in Delhi and several districts of Uttar Pradesh has taken a turn as light to moderate rain has been recorded since last night. This has resulted in a slight drop in temperature, offering relief from the rising heat. The IMD has forecasted that Jammu and Kashmir, along with Himachal Pradesh, will receive heavy snowfall on Thursday. Meanwhile, multiple districts in Uttar Pradesh are expected to see rain and lightning.

Rainfall Predicted in the Northeast and Other States

According to IMD reports, light snowfall and rain are expected in northeastern states like Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh. Additionally, scattered rainfall and thunderstorms are likely in several regions, including Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Assam, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

On 20th February, thunderstorms accompanied by rain showers are expected. Some districts in eastern Uttar Pradesh will likely experience rain and lightning on Thursday.

The Regional Meteorological Centre has issued a rain and lightning alert for various districts from Thursday until Friday morning (8:30 AM). The affected areas include parts of Awadh and the Terai region, such as Gonda, Balrampur, Shravasti, Bahraich, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Hardoi, Farrukhabad, Kannauj, and Barabanki. In western Uttar Pradesh, districts like Saharanpur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Mathura, Hathras, Kasganj, and Etah are also on high alert.

Pleasant Weather Ahead for Delhi-NCR

Delhi residents can expect pleasant weather conditions on Thursday. After days of rising temperatures, the shift in weather will be noticeable from the morning. The Meteorological Department predicts cloudy skies throughout the day, with chances of light rain in the morning and afternoon.

Drizzles were also reported late at night in several parts of the city. The cloud cover is expected to persist for the next two to three days, with occasional rain leading to a slight dip in temperature.

This shift in weather is expected to bring temporary relief from poor air quality, benefiting residents across Delhi-NCR and Uttar Pradesh.
