Doda Encounter: Fresh firing took place twice at the site of the ongoing counter-terror operation in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district, officials cited by news agency PTI said on Wednesday. According to the officials, the latest exchanges of fire between security forces and terrorists took place twice within a span of four hours in the Desa forest area, where the anti-terrorist operation is underway.
Doda Encounter: Fresh Firing Reported
While the first of the two bouts of firing was reported at Kalaan Bhata at 10.45 pm on Tuesday, the second round took place near Panchan Bhata at 2 am Wednesday, the officials added. There were no reports of any new casualties due to the fresh exchanges of fire. The terrorists managed to slip away under the cover of darkness while benefitting from the difficult terrain and thick foliage, the officials informed.
The ongoing counter-terror operation began late Monday evening in the form of a cordon and search operation jointly launched by the Rashtriya Rifles and the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police at Dhari Gote Urarbagi in the Desa forest belt, which lies nearly 55 km away from Doda town. The operation has so far claimed the lives of four Indian Army personnel, including an officer, who had sustained injuries during encounters in the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.

The Doda, Poonch, Rajouri, Reasi, Kathua, and Ramban districts in the relatively peaceful Jammu division have witnessed around a dozen terror-related incidents in the last two months. Intelligence agencies say that hardcore, heavily armed and deeply indoctrinated foreign terrorists, mostly Pakistani nationals, constitute the terrorist group presently operating in the densely forested areas of Jammu, IANS said in a report.
