The Army is being redeployed in the hilly areas of Kathua and Doda to eliminate the terrorists breeding in the region. Besides, extra companies of central forces will also be positioned in the Jammu region, owing to the recent terror incidents. These security forces will not only conduct operations to search and eliminate terrorists but will also involve local villagers in the campaign to destroy the terrorists and their ecosystem.

Based on geographical conditions and terrorist activities, around 55 locations have been identified in the hills of Rajouri, Poonch, Reasi, Ramban, Doda, Kishtwar, Udhampur, and Kathua districts. Under the new strategy, the Jammu and Kashmir Police will play a leading role in the interior regions and act as the main coordinator among other security agencies.

The deployment of the CRPF will be higher in the lower regions. Units of the Army's National Rifles will also be redeployed. Special units of the ITBP will be included in anti-terrorist operations in the hilly areas.

As per the sources, cited by Jagran.com, the decision in this regard was taken after five security forces personnel were killed during an encounter with militants in Doda. The Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Home Affairs have issued the necessary instructions to the relevant authorities on this matter.

Officials from the army, police, and central paramilitary forces have been instructed to swiftly complete the process of establishing checkpoints, camps, and posts in sensitive passes and hilltops.

Troops are being trained to fight in both forests and the mountains. Security forces deployed against terrorists are being equipped with advanced drones, state-of-the-art sensors and jammers capable of detecting and neutralizing explosives, AI-based defence equipment, and communication devices.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is in continuous touch with the Army chief. He is being updated about the ongoing counter-terrorist operation in the Jammu region.
