An IndiGo passenger on flight 6E 6571 from Delhi to Kolkata on September 1 was arrested on Wednesday after allegedly being drunk, misbehaving with the cabin crew, and disturbing fellow passengers. According to IndiGo, the passenger was declared 'unruly' in line with aviation protocols and was handed over to security officials after the flight landed in Kolkata.

“We are aware of an incident of unruly behaviour onboard IndiGo flight 6E 6571 operating from Delhi to Kolkata on 01 September 2025. One of the customers onboard, under the influence of alcohol, was found to be misbehaving with the cabin crew and disturbing fellow passengers. The incident took place shortly after take-off when the drunk passenger seated in 31D, identified as a lawyer, allegedly created a disturbance, according to the crew, who was allegedly assaulted. She mentioned in her complaint that the flyer had boarded the aircraft in an inebriated state and began urging co-passengers to chant ‘Har Har Mahadev.’ Later, she noticed that he was attempting to hide a soft drink bottle that smelled of alcohol, which he hurriedly consumed when questioned.

“zero-tolerance policy towards any form of disruptive or abusive conduct and remains committed to ensuring a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all customers and crew,” IndiGo added.

What Passenger Said In Defence?

The lawyer, however, refuted the allegations and lodged a counter-complaint. He asserted that he had only greeted the crew with 'Har Har Mahadev,' without any intent related to their religion, and was falsely implicated. He also claimed he had not consumed alcohol on board, stating that he had a beer at Delhi’s IGI Airport prior to boarding and had retained the purchase receipt as evidence. Additionally, he accused the crew of harassing him and denying him basic services during the flight.
