Ghaziabad Rain: In a tragic incident in Ghaziabad, a three-year-old girl died after slipping and drowning into the rainwater that accumulated outside her house following heavy rain for the past two days. The incident occurred in Vijay Nagar's Sarvodaya Nagar locality on Thursday, which witnessed significant waterlogging due to the intense rainfall. The heavy downpour has also damaged the roads and submerged houses in several parts of Noida and Ghaziabad, leading to inconveniences. 

Ghaziabad Girl Dies By Drowning

The family members stated that Deepti, the deceased, slipped and fell into the roadside drain and instantly died. She had already died by the time the family members located her and pulled her off. They also rushed her to a nearby hospital; however, the doctors declared her dead upon arrival, reported News18.

"The roadside drain was full of water—it was overflowing. Suddenly, her foot slipped. She fell right there. She died instantly," Sumit Kumar, father of the deceased, was quoted as saying by ANI. While addressing the issue, Upasana Pandey, ACP Vijayanagar, stated that the incident has led to anger among the family members, adding that the concerned department has assured that all the necessary action will be taken.

"Today, a girl named Pallavi, aged approximately three years, died by drowning. This led to anger among the family members; the police will facilitate whatever action they seek, and the concerned department has also assured that all due process will be followed," Pandey was quoted as saying.

Dead Bodies Found Floating

As per a viral video from Ghaziabad, a dead body was seen floating on the streets outside the ACP office in Ankur Vihar on Thursday. While responding to the video, the Ghaziabad police stated that the body has been sent to the mortuary for a post-mortem. It further stated that efforts are underway to identify the dead individual, adding that legal proceedings are underway.

Apart from this, a section of a road in Vasundhara Sector 13 caved in beside an under-construction basement, sending a parked car and a scooter into the pit. The authority has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings during the rain activities.
