Gurugram Metro Expansion: The work on the metro rail network connecting the existing Millennium City Centre metro station to the Cyber City metro network passing through the Old City will begin on May 1. The Gurugram Metro Rail Limited has made preparations for in this regard, jagran.com reproted.

Gurugram Metro Expansion Project At A Glance

-It will be developed from Millennium City Centre to Cyber City.

-Haryana government and central government will jointly spend on the construction.

-A total of eight metro stations on the new corridor will be model stations.

-The new metro network will run on a communication-based train control signalling system.

-Initially the number of coaches in the metro will be three, later it will be increased to six.

Gurugram Police Prepares Traffic Plan

Gurugram Police has prepared a traffic plan for the metro expansion. Wherever barricading will be done, three to four traffic policemen will be deployed there. If a jam situation arises, the traffic will be diverted with immediate effect.

Maximum traffic occurs from Hero Honda Chowk to the railway station. Many residential areas including Sector-34, Sector-37, Basai and Kadipur Industrial Area fall between Hero Honda Chowk and the railway station. Keeping this in mind, Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) had asked Gurugram Police to prepare a traffic plan.

Stations Will Be Built At These Places

The first station on the new corridor will be Sector-45, ahead of Millennium City Centre Gurugram Metro Station. After this, there will be stations near Cyber Park, Sector-47, Subhash Chowk, Sector-48, Sector-72A, Hero Honda Chowk, Udyog Vihar Phase-6, Sector-10, Sector-37, Basai Village, Sector-9, Sector-7, Sector-4, Sector-5, Ashok Vihar, Sector-3, Bajghera Road, Palam Vihar Extension, Palam Vihar, Sector-23A, Sector-22, Udyog Vihar Phase-4, Udyog Vihar Phase-5 and Cyber Hub. Later, the extension will be done from Palam Vihar area to Dwarka Metro Station in Delhi. Not only this, the extension of the metro is proposed till the Global City being developed in Sector-37D.

After the metro expansion in old Gurugram, the entire corridor will look like a ringman system. More than 10 lakh people will directly benefit from the expansion. HMRTC will develop the corridor in old Gurugram and also operate it. After the completion of the project, initially 35 metros will be operated on the new corridor. The number of metros will be increased as the number of passengers increases. Metro facility will be available at an interval of four to four and a half minutes. At present, Delhi Metro facility is available only in the new Gurugram area. There are only five stations of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation in Gurugram area.

“The police is prepared for the Metro expansion work that will begin. Traffic will be diverted as required. Wherever the work will begin, people in the surrounding areas will also be made aware so that they use the alternate route. This will avoid traffic pressure,” said Vikas Arora, Police Commissioner, as quoted by jagra.com.
