Haryana IPS Officer Suicide: The Haryana government on Saturday transferred Rohtak Superintendent of Police Narendra Bijarniya after his name surfaced in the investigation into the alleged suicide of IPS officer Y Puran Kumar.
Kumar, a 52-year-old officer from the 2001 IPS batch, allegedly shot himself in the head with his service revolver at his residence in Sector 11, Chandigarh, on Tuesday.
According to the official order, IPS officer Surinder Singh Bhoria has been appointed as the new Superintendent of Police in Rohtak, while the posting order for Bijarniya will be issued separately.

The action comes amid mounting pressure from the family of Y Puran Kumar, who have been demanding action against the officers named in the ‘final note’ left by the deceased. During the investigation, police found a “will” and a suicide note, in which Kumar underlined job-related issues and dissatisfaction.
In the note, he accused eight senior officials, including SP Narendra Bijarniya and Haryana DGP Shatrujeet Kapur, of “blatant caste-based discrimination, targeted mental harassment, public humiliation, and atrocities.”
“Continued blatant caste-based discrimination, targeted mental harassment, public humiliation and atrocities by concerned senior officers of Haryana since August 2020, which is now unbearable,” news agency PTI reported.
Kumar, who belonged to the Scheduled Caste community, alleged that several senior state officials blatantly used their positions and authority to such an extent that it compelled him to take his own life.
Earlier on Thursday, the Chandigarh Police registered an FIR in connection with Y Puran Kumar’s suicide case, following complaints from Anmeet P Kumar, IAS officer and wife of the late Haryana Additional Director General of Police Y Puran Kumar.
