Aryan Asari, the teenager who shot the Air India aircraft crash video on June 12, recorded his statement before the Gujarat Police. Asari stated that he shot the video out of curiosity as the aircraft was passing very close to the ground level. He added that he wanted to show the video to his friends, and he thought that the plane was about to make a landing at the nearby Ahmedabad airport. However, he was shocked to see flames rising from the spot where the plane crashed and showed the video to his sister. The police confirmed that the boy was not detained and the statement was recorded within half an hour.
"I came here on June 12. The plane was passing from very close, so I thought of shooting a video so I could show it to my friends. The plane went downwards, and I thought it was going to land as the airport was nearby. But when it went down, flames started coming up, and we saw that it had exploded. I was scared. I showed the video to my sister. I also told my father about it," Asari was quoted as saying by ANI.

A senior crime branch official stated that the boy was brought to the police station with his father, and both were allowed to leave after the statement was recorded. He further stated that the boy had informed his sister about the video, who later told his father.
“We had brought him to the police station with his father for recording his statement regarding his video. Both father and son after recording of the statement were allowed to leave,” a senior Crime Branch official was quoted as saying by the Hindustan Times.

“He told us that after recording the video, which also showed the plane going down and a thick smoke from a building, he showed the video to his sister, who informed her father,” he added. Asari's family members stated that the boy has not been able to eat and sleep properly after witnessing the incident.
